ABOUT ABOUT

Join us for a celebratory evening as we launch SPARC's new Studio Series with this production of Little Women.  The Studio Series, designed to focus on shows with smaller casts, allows each student an opportunity to perform in one or more featured roles in a full length production.  Throughout the rehearsal process students engage in dramaturgical research, in depth text and character analysis, and explore more challenging and individual acting and vocal techniques. Their semester of work culminates in an intimate acting studio style performance with minimal technical elements in order to retain focus on the student performances.

Based on Louisa May Alcott's life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.
