Join SPARC’s star-studded student cast of Make ‘em Laugh for an evening of entertainment as they follow in the footsteps of Broadway performers like Carol Burnett, Chita Rivera, Bette Midler, Adam Pascal, Patti Lupone, Norbert Leo Butz, Alice Ripley, Brian d’Arcy James, Audra McDonald, Zachary Levi, Emily Skinner, Christine Ebersole, Laura Benanti, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, whose careers include an array of witty cabaret performances.
Under the Direction of Scott Wichmann and Musical Direction of Ben Miller, students will draw on individual creativity and unique talents as performers while exploring the art of cabaret story telling through songs. As the directing team crafts this musical cabaret performance, students will explore vocal range, discover how to categorize music and structure a story through song, and train in engaging with the audience. The cabaret will include a range of song selections from the Great American Songbook era to Hollywood musicals to Broadway musical theatre, and are guaranteed to bring smiles to audiences while showcasing each performer’s individual talents.
